Good coverage, slower claims

I purchased the Standard Plan for a domestic flight recently. The coverage itself was comprehensive for what I paid, and the peace of mind was worth it. The online quote system was easy enough to navigate. However, when I had to file a small claim for a delayed bag, it took longer to process than I anticipated. Not a huge issue, but it felt a bit drawn out. Overall, still a solid option, but they could speed up the claims side a little.

Decent value for my trip

This was my first time getting travel insurance, and I went with Generali for a short international trip. I compared a few places, and their Standard Plan offered the best balance of price and coverage for my budget. I was glad to see the emergency medical coverage included. The whole purchase was pretty straightforward online. I didn't need to use the insurance, but knowing I had it was reassuring for the price I paid.

Consistent, as expected

I've used Generali a few times now for our family trips. This time, I got the Preferred Plan for our Mexico vacation. The process was smooth, just like before. No surprises, which is exactly what I want from travel insurance. Their pricing has always been fair for the coverage.

Considering Generali vs Allianz for an upcoming trip to Mexico. Anyone have experience with both, which one is better?

H Hannah M. 3 days ago
I've used both at different times. They're both pretty reputable. Generali's plans felt a bit more straightforward to me when comparing. Allianz is also good though. It usually comes down to comparing the exact coverage limits and prices for your specific trip.

Honestly, it really depends on the specific plan you're looking at and your trip details. Get quotes from both for the same coverage level and see what's cheaper or offers better benefits for your needs. They're both top tier providers.

Is Generali legit? Never heard of them until I started looking for travel insurance. Like, are they a real company or some fly-by-night thing?

N Nancy Moore 3 weeks ago
They're totally legit. They used to be called CSA Travel Protection, so maybe you've heard of that? Big company, been around a while.

Yeah, they're legit. Not a scam or anything. They're one of the bigger players in the travel insurance space. Allianz is another one that's similar.

Thinking about getting the 'cancel for any reason' coverage. Is it worth the extra cost? Does it actually cover *anything*?

A Ashley Parker 2 weeks ago
It's usually more expensive, but yeah, it's pretty broad. You typically get back a percentage of your non-refundable costs, like 75% for example, even if you just change your mind. There are some specific rules though, like you have to cancel a certain number of days before departure.

I've considered it for expensive trips. It's not 100% back, usually 75%, and you have to buy it pretty early in your trip planning, usually within 10-15 days of your first trip payment. So it's not a last-minute thing. But if you have a really unpredictable schedule, it might be worth it for peace of mind.

Hey, thinking about getting the Preferred Plan for my trip to Italy next month. What's the deal with pre-existing conditions? My mom has a heart thing and I want to make sure she's covered.

P Paul Brown 1 month ago
Yeah, they do cover pre-existing stuff, but you gotta meet certain conditions. Usually, you need to buy the insurance pretty soon after your initial trip deposit, and be medically able to travel when you buy it. Check their FAQs for the exact window, it's usually like 10-14 days or something.

My dad had something similar. I think if you purchase it really early, like within a couple weeks of your first payment for the trip, they usually waive that pre-existing condition exclusion. But definitely double-check the policy wording because it can vary.

Found a discount code online, where do I even put it when I'm getting a quote? Is there a box for it?

S Susan T. 2 weeks ago
I remember seeing a field for it during checkout, after you get the quote and you're actually buying. It's usually a small box that says 'promo code' or 'discount code'.

H Hannah Scott 2 weeks ago
Yeah, you won't see it on the first quote page. It pops up later when you're finalizing the purchase details, before you pay. Don't expect huge discounts though, they don't do those much.
